Your questions, answered
How do I open a Junior ISA?
The GoHenry Junior Stocks & Shares ISA is already included in all GoHenry plans. You can activate it in your parent app by adding as little as £1. Just fill in a few details and you’ll be ready to go.
How much can I invest?
You, your family and friends can invest up to £9,000 per tax year in your child’s Junior Stocks & Shares ISA. If your child also has a Junior Cash ISA, then this £9,000 limit includes any money added to their Cash ISA as well.
What happens to a Junior ISA at 18?
When your child turns 18, their Junior ISA will be unlocked, and they can choose whether to transfer it to a bank account or an adult ISA. With GoHenry, kids can learn about investing from the age of six, so when that day comes, they’ll have the knowledge and money skills to make the best decision for them.
What are the Junior ISA rules?
To open a GoHenry Junior ISA for a child, they must be under 16 and live in the UK and you must be their parent or legal guardian. However, once it is opened, anyone can contribute. Your child can have both a Junior Stocks & Shares ISA and a Junior Cash ISA, but the maximum overall contribution per tax year is £9,000 across both ISAs.
Are there any fees?
Like most investment service providers, GoHenry charges a small fee. This is 0.45% per year, taken from the Junior ISA balance. Vanguard also charges a fee of 0.22% per year but these charges are included in the valuation of the investment.
Can my child have a Child Trust Fund and a GoHenry Junior ISA?
If your child has a Child Trust Fund, you will need to transfer this to a GoHenry Junior ISA to be able to open the ISA. We prefer to receive Junior ISA transfer forms electronically. Please email them to [email protected]. If required, paper forms can be sent to GoHenry Member Services, Spectrum Point, 279 Farnborough Road, Farnborough, GU14 7LS. Posted forms will result in longer response times. If you have any further questions, our dedicated team can assist. Please contact [email protected].
